    Keep on timing out...help

I dunno why, but whenever i try to join a game, i see the opening cutscene and then the screen goes black for about 20 seconds or so. Then it goes back to windows with a message saying 'connection with the direct play server timed out!' (might be something a bit different, cant remember right now). Can you guys give me any advice about this?

This error means that something is blocking TA getting between the 2 puters, this is usually caused by a firewall and/or a router.

To get it working you will have to allow TA full access to the internet, and open these ports 2300-2400 TCP UDP, 47624 TCP.

OK i opened up the ports (thanks for the help btw) but its still not working...also, when i create a game, even though people join it doesnt say there are any more people joining for me! Is there anything else that might be getting in the way?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but you should double check to see that you opened/forwarded the ports for both TCP and UDP, and both incoming and outgoing.
