Error and Crash while Creating or Joining

I really need help. Everytime I try to play on Pheonix, it crashes. It shows an error box that is all black with some silver outlines, then the beginning scene of the arm troops as usual, then it waits a little and crashes. It does the same when I just click Multiplayer in the TA menu. I haven't fought anyone yet and I'm anxious to see how I can do against someone who can actually play well. I have a friend who can beat the hard AI no sweat, and he has had the game for a week! PLEASE, help me! I'm begging you!
