    Fostering PW - IGW and Tournaments

    PF, Dange, i was thinking that maybe we should, in order to foster the PW community and bring more people to it, allow players to change map in order to play IGW, the game would count and winner would get the xp but simply would not earn the bonus xp for the planet map.

    For example, lets take the Planet Lutjanus americanis, map: metal heck, the player would select the planet in order to play igw, he could change the map to Lava Highground, but by doing that he would lose the 3xp if he is army, but would earn the xp from the calculus. Considering that he was a captain and opponent also a captain, he would get 6xp instead of 9xp (3 xp for army players in metal heck).

     We could also make regular tournaments, i could help organizing them, we could give winners prizes, i.e., if the winner of the tournament is not in commy rank, we could issue him a Lieutenant Commander Rank, if the player is a commander, we could issue him a Sector Commander rank, and so on. Or we could give winner something like 500 xp. But if u still think those are too much, we could promote championship winner, so if the tournament winner is a captain, we could promote him to major, if winner is a sergeant major, we could promote him to command sergeant major. I don´t know, those are just ideas to bring people to PW. Of course there should be a minimum number of players and well-known skilled players in the contest to issue rank and/or prizes, we could establish some rules. Also there could be a space in players profile where the tournament would show, it could be like - player participated in 5 tournaments - Won 3 tournaments.

    What u guys think?

     We need to bring PW to the top where it deserves to be!

    If problem is pw not being popular enough, let's try to solve the real problems, right?

    There's two major problems ive heard from many players.

    Problem number 1) IGW sides are not balanced, peoples get frustrated when they have to play games where they don't have practically chances to win (= playing as core vs as good player who plays arm). Core is much weaker and can put up even game only when player playing core is technically better than person playing arm.

    This is proven in TA tournaments in example. If anyone doesn't agree, please show me tad where person played core all the way and won tournament vs arm players - yes, there are none.

    Suggestion to solve the problem: If ppls were able to choose their race in games, to play whatever out of 4 possible matchups they like (AvA, AvC, CvA, CvC), IGW would be way more popular at least with good players.

    Technically this however means that PW factions should be changed to something else than Arm and Core to keep up the imaginatory warfare idea. Faction_1 vs Faction_2, Empire vs Rebel Alliance, Gnugs vs Mugs, whatever. Make "best name suggestion wins" competition about names of factions.

    I don't think this is technically as complicated to do as it might sound, its mostly renaming.


    Problem number 2) There's more lag on PW than on WZ

    - I dunno what it technically takes to fix this, but it drives some ppls out of pw. Someone with more knowledge about tech-stuff can make you better suggestions than I can...

     

    EDIT:

    - Now when i tought about it a little more, Arm and Core have been fighting (and capturing and necroing each others units) for so long that wasn't it natural if they both allready knew each others stuff enough to be able to change their commies build menus? So it wouldn't prolly even need to change the faction names to keep it realistic...

    Tipper, i could not agree more. And the tournment, is it coming out??

    Dude, i like PF´s sector, but still playing anymaps on igw would be great.

    Yeah i like the IGW's too but i'm getting sick of playing Totya all the fucking time!

     CORE should score extra XP points per certain maps.

     I for 1 am for CORE vs ARM, just my vote on the thing..

     PW needs however more IGW approved maps.. like the TAZone ones...
